Aaaah man, we sooooo love being a Wrenbury Hall Wedding Photographer. We’ve been looking forward to this wedding for a while now. Ben’s been there before, but it would be the first time for me. Paul arrived in style, in a bright red Ford Mustang – what an awesome car! In the meantime, Zanna was upstairs at Wrenbury Hall getting ready with her mum and bridesmaids and top bridesman.
A gorgeous Cheshire wedding venue
The Orangerie had been set up ready for the wedding ceremony, complete with white carpet and big white blossom trees. A string quartet played as Zanna came in. After a touching ceremony (very emotional for Paul) everyone was able to head outside – even though it was January, the sun was shining!! Who’d have thought after all this rain we’ve had!? We did confetti and a few photos before we lost the light and then a couple of surprises from mum and dad!!! First, they’d arranged for a couple of big peacock statues to be there (yes…very random!). Then they had arranged for a Piper to play Zanna & Paul into the Wedding Breakfast in The Orangerie.
For the evening, Paul had made a “Man Corner” complete with lots of whiskeys, cigars, sofas and an old game machine. We totally made the most of it with a cool styled group shot of him, Zanna and their bridal party. They totally rocked this photo!
So first dance time – Unusally Zanna and Paul opted not to have the first dance. Instead, they cleared the room just before the party finished and had a “last dance”, just the two of them on their own. Perfect.
The rest is history. We had such a fun day with everyone and it was great to see so much emotion and love going on.
Here are a few of our favourites while we work on your full gallery. My only rules are… Grab a glass of bubbly, turn it up LOUD, hit FULL SCREEN, and re-live your day over and over again!
The history of Wrenbury Hall
Wrenbury Hall is an idyllic 16th-century country house in the heart of Cheshire, close to Nantwich. The perfect place for a wedding.
Wrenbury Hall seems to once have been known as ‘Warenberie’ as far back as the Domesday Book. It is reputed to have a secret underground passage that runs from the cellars of the hall, all the way to Wrenbury Church – almost a mile away!!! I can’t verify that information though, too busy with weddings! The staircase in the middle of the hallway is a beautiful dark oak and is believed to be 400 years old. It was even used as a British Red Cross training facility at one point!!
The current owners, the Jones family, moved-in in 1982, living here as their family home. Davinia was just a child then, with her two brothers and parents. It wasn’t until 1998 that Davinia and her mother began to renovate the building, the grounds and the gardens with a view to opening it as a wedding venue. Weddings began as fairly small events at first – hosted in the main house. But as the popularity of the venue grew, they extended into The Orangerie in 2000. This allowed for much larger weddings and other events.
A wedding at Wrenbury Hall
Located close to Nantwich in the heart of Cheshire, lies this secluded country house. Perfect for weddings as it has the huge benefit of being an exclusive use wedding venue – I can’t imagine anything worse than bumping into another bride at your venue on your wedding day. They say “be assured that there will never be any guests on-site outside your wedding party, other than our team.” How lovely is that?
The exclusive use means that the bridal party can have access to all the reception rooms with real fires, dining rooms, the accommodation, the grounds. It also means we can pretty much go anywhere for some cool wedding photos.
Wedding Accommodation
Wrenbury Hall can accommodate up to 22 guests situated in the old house, the cottage and the courtyard. The two main bridal suites have recently been renovated, including a window bath overlooking the grounds in one room and a luxurious walk-in shower in the other.
There is also a dedicated salon, created especially for bridal preparations.
A civil ceremony
There are three options for a civil wedding at Wrenbury Hall, for smaller weddings there is The Oak Room. The Rose Pagoda is an outdoor setting in the private secluded grounds perfect for an outdoor wedding. Finally The Orangerie, a really big room for up to 250 guests!! Perhaps even 300 for a Multi-Cultural wedding!
