A Woodland Wedding Venue – The Bluebell Woods
Field & Forest Weddings
It’s not very often that we come across new wedding venues, let alone get the opportunity to be the first person to photograph a wedding couple there. So, when Charlotte and Dave approached us, we jumped at the chance to set up a photoshoot to give the venue try and see what it was like….. It. Was. Awesome.
A Woodland Wedding
If you’re looking for somewhere where you can have an open air wedding ceremony in the woods, followed by a tipi reception by a big old oak tree and wedding photos in amongst one of Britain’s finest display of bluebells, THIS is the place to do it!
So, the pressure was on! I wanted to give the venue something beautiful that represents lovely woodland weddings. Not only that, I wanted to pull together a creative team to produce some extra awesome images that were a little bit more conceptual. So, I sent out a few emails and would you believe, EVERYONE who I emailed said yes straight away – I had my dream team. Now to take some cool photos!
We started out in the bluebell woods with Sophie and George. Just nice natural light and a bit of Gods own light to help and I just let Sophie and George be nice together. They were perfect. So natural and loving, as expected and really great in front of the camera. I mean look at them, they’re both HOT!!
Next, we moved onto possibly the most challenging photo of the day, ‘The Flower Cape’. I’ve got to give all credit to Nadia Di Tullio (florist extraordinaire) who was the brainchild behind this photo. She created a cape of flowers that the gorgeous Soraya wore, just to look like she was growing out of the ground. Soraya was initially nervous about shooting this photo as she’d not really done any modelling before, but OMG, she was amazing. Those big smokey eyes done by Rochelle looked so cool in amongst all the foliage. Also, a big thanks to Hannah who stood there for an hour as “stand in Soraya” while Nadia built this cape around her. Such an amazing effort from everyone here and I love the end results! Fancy this at your wedding – No problem….!!!! 🙂
Rock ‘n’ Roll Bride
The final look we were going for was a bit edgier and “Grrrr!”. I wanted someone with tattoos for this shot as I thought it would make a nice contrast from the natural, peaceful woodland. Nadia spotted an awesome looking gal called Suki while having coffee in Ashbourne and after politely stalking her for a little while, asked if she’d be up for some modelling. She said yes!!!! Who knew that that lovely Suki, spotted by chance would be totally amazing!! She absolutely rocked it. We set up a couple of scenes – one with lots of smoke and a neon sign from Love In My Life and then had our Scampi dog involved for the final couple of photos.
It was such a great day and there’s a reason that these people were my first choice to work with. They’re all totally amazing at what they do and without any one of them, the shoot wouldn’t have looked the same. Thank you all!!!! For anyone reading this, everyone’s details are at the side of this blog – you should definitely book them for your wedding!!!
Also, a big thank to Dani, Loraine, Charlotte, Hannah and everyone else for hanging around all day in the snow, wind & rain, even when you’d finished your part of the shoot. Despite being in the middle of the wedding season and are all crazy busy, having lots of people there made the day an awesome atmosphere to work in.
Thank you, everyone!!!
For a shoot like this, it takes a lot of work just to be able to produce 1 photo. I think we had 15+ people on site, all beavering away, doing their bit creating awesomeness. Here are a few behind the scenes images, shot by my lovely assistant, Charlie
