Winstanley House Wedding Photography

We were honoured to be chosen by Shinal & Ravi to photograph their civil ceremony wedding day. This was our first time as a Winstanley House wedding photographer and we were very much looking forward to it.  From the moment we met these guys, we knew we were going to get on like a house on fire. Shinal & Ravi had already done an engagement shoot with Ben abroad in Madrid and I know he’d had an awesome time. It rained a lot and was super windy which can be really tough for photos, but they rocked a pose, braved the cold and got some beautiful imges in the end.

The Civil Wedding Day

Anyway as we arrived at the venue we were welcomed by Shinal calling and waving from the top floor bridal suite – LOVE her – what a start to a wedding!! Shinal got ready on her own with just her makeup and hair stylist, nice and peaceful! But soon all the bridesmaids arrived, along with Mum and Dad too. During this time we were able to capture some beautiful images of Shinal – she really is stunning.

The Wedding Ceremony

After lots of mingling time with Ravi and his relatives, friends and groomsmen, everyone headed in for the ceremony, the couple had written their own vows which was so lovely to hear and great to photograph. A big wide angle lens from the back of the room enabled a beautiful overall view of the ceremony. With lots of lights and wedding flowers, it looked beautiful.  Canapés and drinks followed with a few family photos, confetti and the bridal party pictures. The weather wasn’t great unfortunately, so we made the most of the Winstanley House interior and what it could offer photographically, it is a lovely building.

Everyone sat down for their wedding breakfast, with a couple of welcome speeches from Ravi and the father of the bride and then it was time for us to go. We had a great time at Winstanely House with Shinal & Ravi – they looked fabulous and are an amazing couple!! The Indian wedding ceremony is next. Honestly, we can’t wait for the rest of the celebrations!!!

Winstanley House is a beautiful place for a wedding

There is nothing better than country house done well.  At Winstanely House in Leicester, that is exactly what you get for your wedding. This in turn totally helps with creating creative and natural wedding photography. No surprise then, that this is a popular wedding venue for both English civil ceremonies and larger Indian wedding parties. As a photographer, it provides plenty of options and we love it.

Weddings at the hotel

Rich in history, Winstanley House began it’s life as Braunstone Hall built by the Winstanleys in 1775. Sold just after the First World War, the house was a school from the 1930s onwards and was also used in the war effort during 1944. It has been extended and developed over the years to incorporate the hotel and a stunning restaurant that adds an air of luxury. Imagine what your wedding photos could be in such a historic venue.

Being cushioned by the rolling parkland of Braunstone Park, combined with its close proximity to Leicester’s City Centre, it is a perfect wedding venue. It’s easily accessible, whilst still retaining some serenity, making Winstanley House very appealing.  They have two elegant ballrooms for you wedding party dancing, a stunning glass reception area, an outside quirky courtyard space to enjoy your reception drinks, even space for a marquee.  For your wedding guests there are 19 luxury hotel rooms, including the most spacious bridal suite on the top floor. It’s a wedding venue that is suitable for an intimate wedding with just close family and friends, to the most grandest of affairs.

We were very impressed with the staff on the day too.  They’re all really friendly and professional, great coffee available at the bar and the canapés were so tasty. Ravi insisting we tuck in! There was lots of parking too. You can book the venue for exclusive use which always makes weddings feel that bit more special. You can have breakfast there in the morning too which is nice and sociable. There’s a great team of wedding co-ordinators to help with along the way to making your day perfect.

Photography at Winstanley House

We found that there are lots of opportunities for great wedding photography at Winstanley House. The house itself is very photogenic from the front or rear gardens with a nice wide lens. There’s the glass atrium which lets in lots of lovely natural light which is ideal for photos should it rain. We also love a venue that has lots of interesting light fittings which make for perfect portraits. The bar area is also such an interesting area – great for lots of natural photography as your wedding guests mingle before dinner. Then of course there’s the garden with a huge big tree that is lit up and night, the walled garden next door and all over the surrounding areas.

So, if you are looking for a Winstanley House wedding photographer and want a nice, relaxed, but beautiful set of images, then please get in touch to see if we are free for your wedding.
