For those of you who follow our blog, you’ll already know that we LOVE The West Mill. A shining example of perfect architecture and restoration of anold industrial building. Lots of interesting pockets of light all around the venue to peek our interest as magpie photographers. Couple it with two awesome humans, and you’ve got an amazing wedding day – Becki and Martin certainly didn’t disappoint!
Becki is one of our avid Instagram followers (stalkers!) and we love her for it. It’s been so great getting to know her through Instagram over the last 18 months and when we heard that they both wanted to book a “connection photoshoot” with us we were super excited to finally meet them in person properly!
Our connection shoots are all about getting two people together, in some amazing locations and light, watching as these two beautiful souls re-connect with each other, taking time out of busy lives to just hang out together and be totally alone (other than with me and a camera!). Becki and Martin totally rocked it. We woke up at pretty much 4am to catch a beautiful sunrise at the top of a mini mountain in Derbyshire, and the effort really paid off. They were so good together and hopefully, they both felt that their wedding photos would be super easy after having had a little practice. As it turns out, I was right. They were both just as good together, if not better on their wedding day! Amazing.
The Wedding Day at The West Mill
As I say, I’d been looking forward to photographing these two as I knew their wedding was going to look beautiful. Becki (and let’s face it, it was mostly Becki!!) had booked some of our favourite wedding suppliers – A dream team of Makeup by Jenni & Helen Sutcliffe for the hair and makeup, Nadia Di Tullio creating a floral masterpiece and some gorgeous copper pressed stationery signs everywhere by Nicola from Rose Press to really make The West Mill venue sing and look incredible. I’ve said it before and i’ll happily say it again… I’m so lucky to be able to photograph such amazing weddings in Derbyshire as we have THE BEST and most creative wedding suppliers in the industry here!!
So, with everything looking amazing in the venue, and the girls all looking stunning, it was time some guests arrived and we had ourselves a wedding! Martin and his guys had been for a quick drink across the road at Darleys Wine Bar and he arrived with lots of wedding guests in tow. Before we knew it Becki was walking down the aisle to say a long overdue “I do” and we headed out into the courtyard for cocktails, prosecco, confetti and some photos!
An awesome wedding day
I won’t bore you all with “we did this”, and “we did that” – If you were there you knew what we all did… All I can say is, if you weren’t there, you missed an awesome day. A day filled with so much love, fun, laughter, tears and everything else in between. We absolutely loved it.
Becki & Martin, thanks so much for trusting us to capture your wedding day through our own eyes and for letting us run around the place pretty much doing what we liked with a camera in our hands. It means the world that you guys trust us 100% and we really hope we’ve captured some amazing memories to last a lifetime as I bet the whole day went by waaaaay too fast?!!!
