Location of The Ashes Wedding Venue

Located in The Staffordshire Moorlands, almost halfway between Stoke & Leek, sits The Ashes. One of Staffordshire’s most popular wedding venues. It’s a beautiful old stone farmhouse along with two barns converted into a stunning location for your wedding. One of the best places in The Midlands to get married! There is plenty of on-site accommodation too! But undoubtedly the best things about this venue are the exclusivity, the view, the highland cows and the no corkage!! The team here are also highly experienced, so will take on everything and support you from start to finish!

The Old Dairy for bridal preparations

This lovely little building is just across the courtyard from the West Barn and is ideal for your bridal preparations. Move in here with your bride squad; bridesmaids, mother of the bride, hair and makeup and relax. The hard work is done, you can do no more, it’s time to enjoy yourself and let the celebrations begin!  Pop open a bottle of fizz, look out for a delivery of gorgeous floral bouquets (eeeeeek!!). Get your wedding dress on and take a moment to let it all sink in!

The West Barn for the civil ceremony

W for wedding, that’s how I remember it! The West Barn is Grade II* Listed and comfortably seats 150 guests! It has lots of mullioned windows which flood the aisle and the whole barn with natural light, while the high ceiling and exposed beams draw your eye up to the Juliet Balcony which offers the perfect place for a string quartet to play during the ceremony! The registrars here all seem to be lovely. As a photographer, you never quite know what parts of the ceremony they will let you photograph. At The Ashes, they allow us to capture everything for you with no real restrictions, which we love! There’s nothing better than being able to give you images of the happy tears and the laughter from this part of the day.  You’ll be assured of a friendly and fun marriage ceremony that you’ll always remember.

A drinks reception and confetti are a great time for relaxed photos

Hopefully the weather will be kind and you, and your wedding guests can head straight out into the courtyard for canapés and drinks. There’s a lovely choice of nibbles from Jenkinsons caterers and of course, you can bring your own drinks for the staff to serve up. The guys especially love to bring a cask ale or some bottles of their favourite lager or cider. Time for your guests to grab the confetti and go wild before we capture some nice relaxed photos of your and your family – nothing posed and awkward, just you and your loved ones hanging out together.

The East Barn for the wedding breakfast

Just across the courtyard is The East Barn. This lovely building is the central location for your wedding breakfast and evening reception. Upstairs is the bar area with a balcony overlooking the whole barn so we can capture a photo of pretty much the whole room on a wide angle lens, enjoying their meal! After dinner, it’s time to convert the room into your evening reception starting with a cake cut and a first dance – The very last thing you have to think about before hitting the dance floor hard.

25 of the best Ashes Country House wedding photos

There are so many choices for photos at The Ashes, god we could go on and on….. There’s the lawns outside the main house with the pond with either a stunning view over the Staffordshire countryside or you can have the main house as your backdrop.  The courtyard is great for lots of natural wedding photos as you and your guests enjoy some mingling time. The driveway down to the lake makes for a lovely walk as husband and wife.  Then, at the right time of year there’s also the corn fields. You may even get a glimpes of the Highland Cows! We LOVE it there!! It’s great to see the bride and groom taking some time to just be together. Taking the opportunity to take in everything they’ve acheived so far.

So, if you’ve booked your wedding at The Ashes, get in touch we’d love to hear all about your plans and hopefully be your wedding photographers!
