Newton House Barns Wedding Photography

We love a Newton House Barns wedding!! Set in the South Derbyshire countryside is the tiny village of Newton Solney. Along one of the little lanes sits Newton House Barns. It’s a renovated barn with acres of beautiful gardens. What a setting! So we were already looking forward to it, but then we met up with Jo & Russ for a coffee and we were even more excited. What amazing people & a lovely couple! We knew from then that we were going to be hanging out with friends for the whole day. What we didn’t anticipate is how awesome their friends and family were going to be too! Seriously guys, what a great day!!

Bridal preparations

So we first headed up to barns to drop off some kit and touch base with Russell and his guys who had the unenviable job of setting everything up and making sure everything was perfect! Then off to Newton Park, a hotel in the village to join Jo, her 5 bridesmaids, mum and mum-in-law to be. It was busy in that room!! Bridal hair and makeup were well underway, so we took the chance to steal away Jo’s wedding dress and make the most it. After much hilarity and ironing, the bridesmaids were ready and it was already time to get into the camper from CW Camper and make the epically long journey to the church! All of about 200 yards! 😂

The wedding ceremony

June, the vicar at St Mary’s, is super nice so no real restrictions as long as we didn’t rest the camera on her shoulder (shudders with dread 😂). Everyone arrived in their finest get up, Russ looked great – totally in love with his hair! The service flew by and before we knew it we were back outside getting ready to cover them in confetti! Jo & Russ headed off for a little drive in the camper with Ben while the wedding guests went back to the barn. Now I grew up in Newton Solney and Repton, so we made the most of a little insider info and found a gorgeous spot for a couple of photos before going back to enjoy the party where the champagne was flowing and Jägermeister shots were already happening.

The wedding reception at Newton House Barns

Thankfully the rain held off for canapés and photos in the garden, then in for a big old roast dinner – one person at every table was given a chef hat and apron, they carved up and served the meat – Lots of fun!

By this time, we’d not actually done any photos of Russell & Jo in the grounds at Newton House as we wanted them to enjoy their drinks reception instead. However, we had a sneaky suspicion that the sun was going to come out later that evening, and we were 100% right. It was beautiful. Stunning golden summer sunshine kissed the tops of the trees in the gardens and Jo looked truly epic in her dress, walking around basking in the sun.

The evening wedding reception & party

It’s always hard to figure out what the evening party is going to be like – We’ve always got everything crossed for it being a good one, but you never know quite how it’s going to turn out when it’s super sunny. Will people to head outside and sit in the sun with a beer instead of dancing? Thankfully Jo and Russ had sorted that problem and organised a Ceilidh which guarantees everyone will be up and dancing all night!!!

In between sets, we took a bit of a drive up the road to catch the last of the sunset and it was an amazing end to a perfect day!!

Thanks for such a great day. It honestly felt like we just hung out with friends all day! 😃

Newton House Barns is situated on a cute little country lane in Newton Solney, a tiny village near Repton. Between Derby and Burton-upon-Trent. They have plenty of parking and there is lots of accommodation closeby, including a fairly big hotel in the village. If it’s a church wedding you’re after, there is St Marys in the village or the bigger church of St Wystans in Repton.
