Jersey Wedding Photographers

Nestled within the Channel Islands is Jersey. In our opinion, one of the most beautiful places for a wedding or elopement. As a wedding photographer, it has so much to offer. It’s one of those magical little places that boasts sandy beaches, rugged rocks, turquoise seas. Let’s not forget, it has some of the best fresh seafood around. Imagine being there in your wedding dress and shoes, playing on the rocks with the waves crashing all around you. With that in mind, being a short flight time from the UK, it’s the perfect place for a wedding or romantic elopement. Just you and your best friends as wedding guests. Perfect!

We got engaged ourselves at Corbierre Lighthouse

Hannah and I actually got engaged there on the island, just by Corbierre lighthouse at sunset. So it will always hold a special place in our hearts. We love travelling there. It feels like a second home,  so to travel there to photograph weddings, is amazing!! Every time we come to the island we’re greeted with sunshine and the smell of the sea, something we don’t get in rural Derbyshire! With a camera in hand and a selection of prime lenses in our camera bags, all that’s missing from our trips is a beautiful bride and groom to photograph. It gives us a little jitter of excitement every time we’re here as Jersey wedding photographers.

Now for a little bit of history about Jersey itself before we show you some beautiful wedding photos from the island.

The History of Jersey

Jersey is the largest and southernmost of the Channel Islands, measuring only 9 by 5 miles! Located just 14 miles from the French coast, it is, in fact, part of the UK, although some French influences can still be seen, most notably in the street names which are all French. However English is the national language, they drive on the left and use the £sterling. Being seen as an important military position, the French have invaded Jersey many times, but have ultimately always been beaten back.  The island has two main castles – Mont Orgueil built during The Hundred Years War to guard the east coast of the island from invaders. Then in 1590, work started on Elizabeth Castle, built to defend St Aubin’s Bay and named after the Queen by Sir Walter Raleigh. During the Second World War, The Channel Islands were the only part of Britain to be occupied by the German forces – the islanders suffered heavily for 5 years until finally their liberation at the end of the war, in fact, they still celebrate their Liberation Day with a Bank Holiday.

Spectacular scenery for a wedding

The history of the island only adds to its beauty and no matter where you get married on Jersey, you’ve got to take time out of your wedding day to visit the coast and play on the rocks and the beach. Kick off your heels, roll up your suit trousers and go take a paddle in the chilly waters of the Atlantic Ocean!! Then we can head back to your wedding guests ready to party.
