Hoar Cross Hall wedding

We LOVE a Hoar Cross Hall wedding, such a beautiful wedding venue. The oldest part of this building which they use as the main hotel is just so very interesting. Beautiful architecture and styling throughout. The hall was originally built in the 15th century with a moat and a drawbridge. Then it was redesigned, rebuilt and completed in 1871 by the Meynell Ingram family. It now has a distinctive Elizabethan style with no less than 48 chimneys!! After falling into disrepair it was bought in the 1980s, restored and now continues to prosper as a hotel, wedding venue and spa.

Wedding day preparations

On the morning of the wedding, Ben headed over to see Jade and her girls and I went to see Michael with his family and friends. It was lovely at Michaels parents house, the dog was chilled out in the conservatory, the boys were endlessly watching YouTube to work out how to do their ties (so funny) and mum was quietly having her hair done in the kitchen. After popping a bottle of bubbly in the garden it was time to head over to the church, should be a cathedral it’s so big, of St Mary’s in Derby. The girls were lots of fun too. Jades sister’s partner furiously washing the car, lots of tears from mum and cups of tea all round. Just how we like it!! With hair and makeup all finished, we left for the church and Jade arrived right on time. Time for the wedding to begin!

Back to Hoar Cross Hall

Once everyone was gathered at the hall, it was time for a few photos and loads of confetti before going in for dinner, speeches and the evening reception. We had to most amazing gold hour while we were taking a walk for some photos – LOVE it when this happens!!
