GETTING READY AT HAZEL GAP BARN

There is a small room on site to slip into your dress and have final hair and makeup touchups before the ceremony.

There are also lots of accommodation options to get ready nearby.

THE CEREMONY

The ceremony takes place in the main barn with high ceilings, exposed beams and a central fireplace. It’s warm, atmospheric and works beautifully in all seasons. In the evening, this space transforms into the dancefloor.

ACCOMMODATION

There are lots of options to stay nearby.

Cuckney House – A large 18th-century manor, a 5-minute drive from Hazel Gap. It offers self-catering for up to 38 guests across 15 bedrooms.

Forest Lodge Edwinstowe – Traditional hotel in Edwinstowe (~4 miles).

Ye Olde Bell Hotel & Spa – Historic hotel and spa (~13.5 miles).

Worksop Hotel (Premier Inn) – Budget-friendly option (~8 miles).

I’ve photographed weddings all over Europe (casual flex!) and have captured so many beautiful moments here — from intimate ceremonies to huge parties. Every wedding is different. It’s a super beautiful venue, but it can be tricky to get it right at times too. You don’t want to flash the heck out of it all day and lose that warm atmosphere, but equally, when the sun goes down, or the rain hits, it’s great to be able to create beautiful candid, romantic portraits, or dramatic group photos. That’s why I love it here!!

From Derbyshire, you’ll take the M1, exiting at junction 29. From there, follow the A632 and A616 to reach your destination in Nottinghamshire.
