The Great Barn at Aynho

Meet Jo and Jacob – Possibly one of the best looking couples ever and certainly one of the nicest! We got to know Jo through photographing her sister’s Christmas wedding back in 2014, so it was lovely to be asked to shoot her wedding and to come back to so many friendly and familiar faces 🙂

The venue

The Great Barn is a privately owned, 18^thcentury wedding venue set in 250 acres of gorgeous Oxfordshire countryside, a beautiful location for a wedding! Sadly the weather was pretty rubbish for a lot of the day so we didn’t get the opportunity to explore most of it, but with the barn being so beautiful inside, it really didn’t matter too much.

The preparations

We found Jo getting ready at the barn, with all her girlies having their hair and makeup done. It was also lovely to finally meet Lisa and Gary’s baby daughter – the last time we saw Lisa, she was heavily pregnant at a wedding we were photographing, so it was nice to finally meet Penelope.

After a lovely ceremony, the rain suddenly stopped and out came an amazing blue sky and full sunshine, so we headed outside for some photos with friends and family – but alas, there was a seriously stormy cloud lurking in the distance so we ran out to grab some photos of Jo and Jacob with their bridesmaids and groomsmen before dinner. Good job we did as, as soon as we sat down for dinner, it chucked it down with rain. Pretty perfect timing really and we couldn’t have asked for more!

After some great speeches The Wandering Hands entertained everyone, hanging out in the dining room, and as the name suggests, they just wandered around the tables singing and playing – pretty damn cool!

At the end of dinner, after the rain had stopped, we noticed a tiny bit of sun, peeking through the clouds as it set, so we rushed over to Jo and Jacob to see if they were up for ditching everything and running outside with us for a quick photo – of course they said yes, they’re awesome!

It was such a great day, despite the weather, everyone had an amazing time and Jo and Jacob were an absolute pleasure to work with, just like her sister and Gary back in 2014! Here are just a few of our favourite’s from the day….
