Blackwell Grange wedding photos

We’ve been looking forward to doing some Blackwell Grange wedding photos for ages now and man, it didn’t disapoint!! Nestled in The Cotswold countryside – there was much to admire! What an amazing wedding venue! The attention to detail is fabulous and you can clearly see the money and time that the family have spent on the place renovating and restoring it to the highest standard. Why would you not want to get married here – we LOVE it!  We arrived early to have a good look round the venue and chat to the venue manager Chloe, who was lovely! Scott & Laura from Avant Garden were already there setting up all the beautiful florals and Rachel from Wedding Event Design Studio too!

Bridal preparations & the wedding ceremony

Melanie, our beautiful bride-to-be was all set up in The Potting Shed, the dedicated bridal room at Blackwell Grange for the bride and wedding party in the morning. She was there with hair and make-up, all her bridesmaids and her mum. Soon enough Scott arrived looking incredibly dapper in his marroon velvet smoking jacket with bow tie and his men in their best gear too! Once everyone was ready and Mel was dressed in her gorgeous Kenneth Winston gown, they had a lovely ceremony in The Thatch Barn and then out into the glorious sunshine for drinks and canapés (which were particularly special!!). Boules and croquet on The Cider Lawn, we had such a giggle with everyone – what a great bunch of people! We loved the Apple Tree Lawn, so made the most of the family photos here next to the Corn Shed and old Water Tower.

The wedding breakfast at Blackwell Grange

Time to head in for dinner and some brilliant speeches from the Father of the Bride, Scott and then finally his best man. Melanie and Scott are huge foodies so we knew the food was going to be excellent – and it didn’t disapoint either. It’s not often we see scallops on the menu at weddings or dry ice served alongside a palate cleanser!! After dinner an ice cream cart awaited and then wood fired pizza in The Herb Garden for the evening too! Happy days!

They had a great DJ in the evening complete with bongo drums and sax and we partied the night away!

Here are just a few of our favourites from the day while we work on your full gallery!!!
Our only rules are… You gotta hit “Full Screen” and you gotta turn it up LOUD. Enjoy xx

The History of Blackwell Grange, Shipston-on-Stour

For 400 years there’s been a farm on this site. The property has been in the current family since the 1940s, when William’s grandparents moved there after serving in WW2. His grandfather created a breeding stud for National Hunt racing. This was successfully ran with William’s father as the trainer until their retirement in the 1990’s. Since William joined the family farming partnership, they have concentrated on breeding several pedigree sheep flocks. These, of course run alongside their amazing arable farm. William’s wife, Didi has experience in surveying and interior deign.  It is obvious that she lead the way in converting the farm into the beautiful wedding venue you see today!

The Restoration of the wedding venue

The truly stunning 16th century Thatch Barn has been lovingly restored. It is now licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 150 people. The beautiful building benefits from a new thatched roof, original oak beams and barn doors. There is also a magnificent open fire, gorgeous flagstones and even a well! The Apple Tree Lawn sits just outside and makes the perfect spot for reception drinks.

The ‘new’ section of the venue is the Orchard Barn. Bathed in light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and featuring a stylish bar, impressive dining space and mezzanine ‘chill out’ area. This is the spot for your wedding breakfast where Galloping Gourmet, work alongside you to make a unique dining experience. No boring set menus! The patio and gardens outside the Orchard Barn is just beautiful for relaxing in the sunshine both before and after dinner – there’s a lovely view over the surrounding countryside.

The bride’s preparations are catered for in The Potting Shed. For the wedding night, the bride & groom can stay in the Hayloft Honeymoon Cottage. Whilst local towns provide lots of local Cotswolds accommodation.
