Wedding Photography in Annecy, France

Being invited to be a destination wedding photographer in Annecy, France is a real privilege. Fact. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world for a wedding and as a photographer, those beautiful mountains with a stunning château in the foreground – Wow! Perfect!

There are so many beautiful spots to get married in Southeast France, but Aurelie and David chose the super sweet town of Le Grand-Bornand followed by the incredible Château-de-Menthon. More about these awesome humans later…

Annecy as a wedding destination

A little bit more about why I love France as a destination wedding photographer, especially Annecy. So, it’s no secret that I love light and shadows in my photos, I also love a dramatic landscape. So, what could be better than a French fairy tale Château with the French Alps in the background??!! Then there’s the gorgeous blue green water of Lake Annecy too. And all just a super short journey from Geneva airport!

You’re spoilt for choice in this area, but Aurelie & David chose Château-de-Menthon on the edge of Lake Annecy – it is a fairy tale location, in fact the current Menthon family state that Walt Disney saw this place and used as inspiration for Sleeping Beauty! I can totally see why. It is also one of the few castles in France that has been in the same family for 10 centuries! How awesome is that – Being there, part of the history of the Château.

Mountain Weddings

Also, a big shout out to Vanessa at Mountain Weddings for doing an epic job as the wedding co-ordinator, as always. We’ve worked together a few times in various destinations around Europe now and I’ve never seen anyone work as hard all day long. She’s awesome. On the day, so lovely to be around and we always have a right old laugh! Thanks for always being nice, but also awesome at your job helping Aurelie and David decide to invite me other there to Annecy to be their wedding photographer!! 🙌

So, what can I say about these two… My god…how long have you got!!! A super classy couple…yes! Fun to be around – Hell yes (see the dance floor pictures!!!!), but more importantly than that, they were there to have a good time and actually enjoy their wedding. We partied all day long, and well into the night, which turned back into morning again… I believe the 5am sun was beginning to rise by the time they finished parting – Legends!!!

My time there as a wedding photographer in Annecy started the day before the min event, to photograph their civil wedding ceremony. A beautiful little French town called Le Grand-Bornand was the start of this epic wedding adventure. They got married in the Town Hall then headed back to their chalet for dinner. The town hall is beautiful – a lovely old building, overlooked not only by beautiful mountains, but by the Church, Place de l’Eglise. This was the setting for tomorrows formal ceremony – The place that all of their 120 friends and family from all over the world would travel to to watch them tie the knot before heading over to Annecy ready for an epic wedding party.

I’ll let the photos do all the talking and show you what we got up two over the two days we had there, but it was a destination wedding I’ll never forget. Manly because Aurelie and David made me feel like one of the family and welcomed me with open arms. They are beautiful souls and the rest of their friends and family are awesome too!!
