An Iranian wedding at Shustoke Barn

Oh my – what a wedding this was!! Its no secret we  LOVE being a Shustoke Barn Wedding Photographer – An AMAZING Wedding venue. We’ve been looking forward to it ever since we met Milad & Jo for their Connection Shoot in London. They are a fab couple, so easy to chat to and Jo just has the most gorgeous hair!!! Milad and Jo have been together since they were teenagers, so it was about time they tied the knot 😜. And they did so in serious style!

Preparations in the morning

So…. on the wedding day, Jo got ready with her mum, her closest friend – having three brothers are bound to bring the girls together!! They have such a lovely relationship together and it’s obvious that Jo thinks the world of her mum. The morning was filled with lots of fun and laughter and fueled by Red Bull. Maybe this was responsible for the amazing atmosphere that was building as Jo slipped into her stunning Jesus Peiro dress.

Milad got ready with all his mates at a hotel down the road from Shustoke Barn. I’ve never seen bow ties cause so much grief! Poor Milad was busy getting everyone ready and pretty much tied them all! And after a little tot of special whiskey, they were ready to go – looking sharp!

A Catholic wedding ceremony

As everyone arrived in Balsall Common at The Blessed Robert Grissold Church, the priest was ready (such a nice man!) and Jo made her entrance looking so beautiful 😍. Some beautiful singing from the choir and soon enough they were married and it was time to get loaded onto the coaches for the short trip back to Shustoke Barn.

The Iranian Wedding Ceremony

Shustoke Barn was looking very special indeed, so many beautiful flowers everywhere and the main barn the Sofreh Aghd (Persian wedding table) was laid out, covered in all sorts of ceremonial goodies along with the Mirror of Fate. Milad’s dad led the Iranian wedding during which a shawl made out of silk is held over the bride and bridegroom’s head. Two sugar cones made out of hardened sugar are softly ground together above the bride and groom’s head by different ladies throughout the ceremony to shower them in sweetness!! We LOVE wedding other traditions from around the world.

Lots of food & speeches followed. Then the amazing West End Singing Waiters burst into song and everyone joined in with choruses of Sweet Caroline, Wonderwall and Nessun Dorma! This pretty much signalled to everything that the party was about to begin, and OMG it really did begin! We had so much fun on the dance floor starting with a traditional Persian Knife Dance ceremony to cut the cake, and then we all hit the dance floor HARD!!

The rest is history!

We had so much fun – Getting to know Jo and Milad has been amazing and we hope you guys love the photos as much as we do!
