A wedding at Hall Farm, Ashby cum Fenby
Katie + Tom
We’ve been waiting to do this wedding at Hall Farm in Ashby cum Fenby for a while now. It’s a pretty little village in North East Lincolnshire, approximately 5 miles from Grimsby. The venue is set of acres of farmland on the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. Over the years the venue has grown from a derelict farmyard to a restaurant, hotel and now wedding venue. We’ve known the groom, Tom, for a while. He is an excellent magician – truly one of the best we’ve seen and we always love watching him entertain wedding guests during drinks receptions. We’ve seen him many times at weddings and weddings shows, so when he told us he was getting married, we were so excited!
So who was this lovely lady that our cheeky chappy friend Tom has fallen for? Meet Katie, everyone!
We met Katie when we headed up to Whitby for their connection shoot – it was an epic evening full of sunsets, rugged cliffs and walks on the beach, we loved it! Most of all, we loved getting to know Katie a little bit. She’s so lovely inside and out, and Tom and Katie are soooo good together. Loving and affectionate towards each other, calm, funny, and super sexy. A perfect couple!!
Bridal preparations
So we headed up to Grimsby the night before. It is a bit of a drive for us so we didn’t want to risk traffic problems early in the morning. After a hearty breakfast, we found Hall Farm in a tiny village only about 5 miles from Grimby. Found Katie, getting in ready in not one, but two of the bedrooms! Hairdresser in one and everything else upstairs in another. She had already expertly done her own make-up and was just doing the final touches. Her lovely son Callum and his mate Morgan were busy decorating the room with silver balloons and the bridesmaids were arriving ready for the big day ahead. Soon enough Katie was ready in her beautiful bespoke dress from Joanna Leigh Couture complete with beautiful bottom veil!!
In the meantime, Tom had arrived at the church, just a minute away, with all his groomsmen. We had chatted to the vicar who was super nice and had a crazy mixture of Scottish and American in her accent! Everyone was inside the church and Katie and her bridesmaids were walking to the ceremony. Afterwards, the couple had a few moments to themselves while everyone filed out to make a confetti tunnel! Then back to the venue for drinks in the sunshine. OMG it was sunny… Clear blue skies, crazy hot for September…A stunning day!
The rest of the day was fun. There were hilarious speeches, lots of drinking, some antics with some sort of homemade eyeball goggles (no idea!!). There was also some magic performed by guests (of course!!) and some really lively dancing!
Just as it was getting dark and dusky, we headed out to catch the last glimpse of light and make use of a big open field at the venue for some gorgeous couple portraits. Honestly, I can’t tell you how good Katie and Tom are together in front of the camera! !!
Here are a few of our favourites while we work on your full gallery. My only rules are… Grab a glass of bubbly, turn it up LOUD, hit FULL SCREEN, and re-live your day over and over again!
Hall Farm in Ashby cum Fenby
Hall Farm in Ashby cum Fenby, near Whitby offers a great location for a wedding. Here’s a little bit of info about this wedding venue. Converted from a derelict farmyard, they now have a wedding function room called the “The Fenby Room” and it can accommodate up to 100 guests for a sit-down meal, or more for buffet-style service. There is also a mezzanine, which would be perfect for musicians during the wedding breakfast or extra seating. Then there’s “The Ashby Room” which can be used as an over-spill from the Fenby Room. It is fitted with built-in disco lights and equipment so is perfect for the evening dance floor. Both rooms are fully air-conditioned and each has a fully licensed bar. For breakfast in the morning, they have a restaurant. There are also 8 bedrooms for your wedding guests to stay the night and being close to Grimsby there are plenty of hotels or B&Bs. The little village church is literally just outside the venue too, making the perfect place for a religious wedding ceremony if you didnt want a civil ceremony.
