Tipi wedding near Carsington
A tipi wedding near Carsington – I love this part of Derbyshire, it’s real English countryside, rolling hills and lots of sheep & cows. The site of their tipi overlooked Carsington Reservoir, the sun was shining – the perfect day for a wedding!! 😎
This wedding felt like a mini-reunion. We’d photographed Paul’s brother’s wedding, Claire and Mark, 4 years ago, and we’re also photographing Paul’s brother’s wife’s sisters wedding later this year. Complicated, right!!! Try adding into the equation the fact that Paul looks quite a lot like his brother Mark. Fun & games! LOL 😃
It was great to hang out again with everyone – We had such a good time 4 years ago, so we were really looking forward to this wedding, especially after meeting Becky and Paul. They’re such a lovely couple, so happy and smiley!
The morning preparations
I started the day by heading off to see Paul and the guys at home. Paul seemed to have quite a lot to do while all his men were relaxed, sitting on the sofa, but soon they decided it was time to have a shower and get ready….so they all got in a single shower cubicle….together, didn’t think 4 guys could fit in a shower – who knew!! Anyway, after lots of laughs, joint showers(!!!) eye drops, anti wrinkle eye rollers and conversations about how to tie a tie, they were ready to pile into the Defender and head off to the church in Kniveton.
In the meantime, Becky was at her mum’s house… Ben headed there bright and early to catch the girls having their hair and makeup done. Luckily Paul’s other brother’s wife Becky was a bridesmaid and handily is a hairdresser and did an awesome job of all the girl’s hair.
After a lovely letter arrived from Paul provoking a small tear or two, Becky slipped into her stunning dress and headed off in the VW Camper to meet her horse and carriage.
The church ceremony
The ceremony was lovely, lots of personal touches….the flowers by the mother of the bride Diane, the order of service and even the vicar had some great words to say… what we want to know is did Becky share that can of Red Bull???! Lexi (their beautiful dog) was there to greet them after the ceremony, they got covered confetti and then straight into the horse and carriage for a short ride over to Carsington.
The tipi reception
Peak Tipis had outdone themselves as usual with their 3 hat tipi, Uppercrust Caterers were there too handing out tasty canapés and after a few photos and lots of mingling in the sunshine, everyone headed in for dinner. There were some great speeches with lots of emotion which is how we like it!! As the evening guests arrived, the sun started to drop lower in the sky, so we headed over the road for some time with Paul & Becky on their own. Love this time of night, the couple are relaxed (all the stressful bits are out of the way) and the light is often amazing – I really love the images from this section of the day!! Then of course back into the tipi to cut their cake and dance the night away!
Many thanks to Geoff from Our Wedding Videographers – had a blast with you guys!
We had such a great time with Paul & Becky, their friends and family were all superb and we couldn’t have hoped for a better day!
