Yeldersley Hall is beautiful – based in Ashbourne, it’s so close to our home and it’s perfect for us as Derbyshire Wedding photographers. Andrew, the owner there, is fantastic and has created a venue that’s so warm and friendly and full of lots of little surprises – lots of beautiful gardens, open brickwork that shows the character and age of the house, chickens roaming free, a haha at the end of the garden so you can make the most of the open fields and a few hidden gems in the pipeline, desperate to be explored and used in the future.

Chris & Zoe’s wedding

Meet Chris and Zoe – genuinely two of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Fact.  They got married at St. Wystan’s Church in Repton and had the rest of the day at the fabulous Yeldersley Hall in sunny Derbyshire.

So a little bit about these two – We got to know Chris through our love of food as he’s the most awesome chef, but uniquely, one of the calmest chef’s too – I don’t think I’ve ever seen him raise his voice when we’re in the kitchen! (I’m sure his staff will say otherwise when the ice-cream is sat on the pass melting during service!! lol).  Zoe, we met through Chris and is one of the kindest, most selfless people around and you only have to look at their beautiful little girls, Evie and Maddie to know that she’s the best mum ever! Chris is a lucky guy!

Chris had decided that he wanted to make the most of his wedding day and wasn’t content with getting married at 2pm, rushing around for some photos and then sitting down for dinner.  Instead, despite Zoe’s slight concerns that she’d have to start getting ready at 6am, they opted to get married at 11am leaving them time to have a super relaxed afternoon in the baking hot sun, eating the plethora of gorgeous canapés that Chris himself had prepared and drinking ice cold Pimm’s while we did a few photos and just enjoyed the day. Now THAT’S what weddings should be about. Taking the time to enjoy yourself, make the most of everything that you’ve organised and not letting things pass you by.

After a wander around the grounds at Yeldersley Hall it was time for some speeches and the 2nd most important event of the day, dinner – three courses of foodie yumminess that Chris too had prepared, leaving his friend and fellow chef Dave to cook and serve to his eagerly waiting guests. During dinner, guests were entertained by one of the best magicians we’ve ever seen at weddings, Tommy Magic. If you want something super cool and not at all cheesy, hire Tommy – he’s awesome and no matter how many times we’ve seen some of his tricks at weddings, they always amaze us, and his new tricks just blow us away – the Ice Trick….incredible!!

I’m sure you can sense by now that food was a bit of a theme for day – well how could it not be! Chris was never going to settle for guests being hungry, so after dinner the amazing Rustic Crust arrived with their pizza Landrover, they had Amy from the Sugerpod Cakery providing cupcakes for a ‘pimp your own cupcake bar’ and the coolest looking cheese wedding cake for guests to tuck into. Honestly we’ve never eaten so much food at a wedding as Chris and Zoe made us (we didn’t need asking twice!) take part in all the deliciousness throughout the day – we love it!!!

We could go on and on about how amazing the day was, and how much fun we had with all the guests, but by now I’m sure you’re eager to see some photos, so we’ll leave you by saying a big thank you to Chris and Zoe for inviting us along. You were both so kind to us and looked after us, fed us, watered us and it felt like we were just there at guests with a camera having the best day ever, so thanks guys!!
