Spring wedding photos at The Ashes in staffordshire
A spring wedding at The Ashes
You’ve gotta love a spring wedding at The Ashes, the sun was shining, the highland cows were out in the field and we were all set for a great day!! We’ve been looking forward to this wedding ever since we met Sophie and Simon – they are a lovely couple, huge fans of live music, Harry Potter, Micky & Mini and Batman (well Simon is on that last one!!). Most of all, they’re two of the loveliest people you will ever meet.
Everyone was getting ready at Dove Farm Barns in Caverswall. As soon as Sophie left with her bridesmaid Vicki and her mum, all the guys emerged from where they’d been hiding for the morning and headed into the cottage to get ready! After a quick game of ‘who can eat a kinder egg and make the toy the fastest’ (you know, that famous game…?!) the guys were presented with their cufflicks and hipflasks, then it was time to get dressed. After about 5 attempts, Simon finally got his cravatte tied 😂 and he left for The Ashes in his dad’s beloved Porchse! Nice!
Sophie was getting ready in The Old Dairy with Jo Way doing her makeup and Kayleigh Read in charge of hair – dream team!! Everything went smoothly and after Sophie’s dad had shed a few tears over how gorgeous his daughter was, it was time to take the short walk over to the West Barn to get married!
The wedding ceremony and reception
Now I (Hannah) can’t say this too often because I’m a hardened wedding photographer 😂, but boy did this ceremony make me cry! The entrance music alone was enough to start off the tears – ‘I Giorni’ by Ludovico Einaudi. It was so emotional, everyone had a tissue in their hand including Lisa the event manager!! Simon was so happy to be married to Sophie (and vice versa of course!) – it was wonderful to see!
After the ceremony, out into the sunshine for fizz and Tiger beers! We made the most of the front garden of the house for a few photos and Stop Motion fun, before it was time for a lovely 3 course dinner (very tasty it was too!). Then more very emotional speeches followed!
We always like to make the most of the venue in the evening when the lights go down, so we took a wander, played with some smoke and the rest is history as they say!!!
All I can say is that we had an amazing time, an epic pick ‘n’ mix and made a couple of new friends!!!
Here’s a little video we’ve put together of the day – turn it up loud and enjoy!! 😃
