Swancar Farm Country House Nottinghamshire wedding photos
Some people are beautiful, some are lovely people, some are just damn cool – these two are all three put together!! Julie is one of the nicest, most beautiful people we’ve met. With her beaming smile and infectious laugh she’s hard not to get on with. Steve, well Steve’s just a dude – a great guy and they make an amazing couple. Even after getting in at 4am, drunk on a Saturday night, he still managed to get up and be awesome at 8:30am on a Sunday morning on their engagement shoot!
We spent a couple of hours together wandering the empty streets of Nottingham, early on a Sunday morning, taking a few photos and just generally getting to know each other. I’m glad we did – we had such a laugh and getting to know Julie and Steve a little bit before the wedding really helped me see what they’re all about and made me really look forward to the wedding that little bit more!
The Wedding Day
So, this was our last wedding of 2016 which is both good and bad. Bad, because it means that I don’t get to hang out with fun people every weekend for a few weeks, but good because it means we get a break to recharge and refresh over January ready for the next wedding season!
With this being the last wedding of the year, I sooooo wanted to end on a high. I watched the weather all week to see how it was shaping up, it wasn’t looking good. All week it had been sunny and beautifully crispy and cold, just how winter weddings should be. Then came the forecast for the wedding day – only blummin’ “Storm Barbara” was going to rear her ugly head for the day. 50mph winds, lashing rain….awesome!!! But hey ho, never mind! It just means we can have fun inside in the warm instead.
Weather is a funny thing. To us as photographers, it doesn’t really matter if it’s raining or sunny. As long as our couples are happy and not bothered by either, that’s all we want. Julie and Steve were awesome about it – not only did they not really care, but they were happy to venture outside when we had a break in the rain.
It was still as windy as hell, but it made for some fun moments trying to photograph Julies’ veil. At one point I think I actually had to shout instructions to my assistant Lois, despite being stood right next to me, because the wind was so strong. It was pretty fun and a right laugh!!!!! Thankfully Julie had sensible hair and had it all put up for the day so it didn’t blow all over the place. **Top Tip… have an “up do” for your hair and it’ll look amazing all day long**
We joined Julie and the girls in the morning while she was getting ready at Swancar Farm Country House. After many many laughs and giggles getting ready (mostly at Julie’s penguin pyjamas!!!), it was time to head off and get married! The ceremony was fun too. Not to mention the weather again, but you could hear the wind battering the building during the vows. It made it kind of dramatic and exciting! A lovely touch during the ceremony was their friend Ryan playing the piano for them – It created such a nice atmosphere when Julie walked down the aisle and really set the tone for the whole day.
With the “I do’s” done we all managed to head outside for 1 big group photo before dashing back in again to enjoy the warmth of Swancar and a few canapés. But not before a couple of photos out in the wind with Julie and Steve. We headed out with bridesmaids in tow to catch Julie’s veil in case it blew away, had a few quick photos before the wind and cold got the better of us. Besides, it was almost dinner time and we were definitely ready for a yummy Turkey dinner!
Having spent the day with their family and friends, we knew it was going to be an awesome party. We couldn’t wait for the band to get started – we weren’t wrong. Everyone was pretty much on the dance floor, giving it everything and the party was in full swing!
Julie and Steve – thanks again for such an amazing day – We loved every minute of it and you guys were so much fun to hang out with. An amazing end to our year – We definitely ended on a high!!
