Wedding photos at Swancar Farm Country House
A beautiful September wedding with giant balloons
Swancar Farm Country House is a lovely wedding venue in Nottinghamshire near Trowell – it makes the most of a lovely house and some beautifully converted barns. The wedding breakfast room has stunning double height ceilings and huge windows allowing light to flood in. To the outside there is a courtyard for reception drinks and gardens for photos along with iconic driveway surrounded my countryside.
Anyway Ruth & Chris…. what an amazing couple! So excited about the whole day and a real pleasure to photograph.
So, for those of you who think it’s tough planning a wedding, try doing it all the way from Abu Dhabi. Yes, that’s right, Chris and Ruth live on a different continent and still managed to plan an awesome day with seemingly very little stress and just a couple of wedding intensive trips to see friends and family here in the UK.
I found Ruth getting ready at her parents house, surrounded by bridesmaids and a buffet of bagels and champagne, while Chris got ready at The Belfry with the guys. As we arrived at St Marys church in Greasley, the sound of bagpipes in the distance was awesome – a real mood setter for the day. After the ceremony led by vicar “Dave The Rave”, we headed outside for a few photos before heading back to Swancar Farm for “Pimp your own Prosecco” and canapés.
We love it when couples decide to not have many group photos and Ruth and Chris were keen to just enjoy the day, rather than making everyone stand around waiting for an endless string of group photos – So we did a few shots of the friends and family, and took the bridal party for a wander down the front drive with their giant balloons before heading inside for Chris to have a quick change into his kilt before sausage and mash for dinner!
So, what do we do while our couples eat dinner? Well, we usually plan the next couple of shots, and on this occasion Gareth and I decided to find as many candles as we could around the venue and took them all upstairs in the ceremony room for a lovely dark candlelit photo after dinner with the bridesmaids and groomsmen to add an extra wow factor to the wedding.
There are so many ways to party on into the night, but what better way than a cool and funky ceilidh to get everyone up and dancing and it was great to see everyone getting involved!
Such a great day. Such a great couple. Fact.
